The 3rd pitch of our route Zembrocal was quite an adventure. Its one of the strangest, most exhausting pitches I have climbed, especially when you consider it is a chimney for 50% of the time meaning you can quite often take off both of your hands. It was the vision and motivation of Caroline that open and free climbed the pitch. I was more than content to make the second ascent of the pitch, after a lot of attempts and a BIG fight, and felt it was by far the hardest pitch we had climbed at that point of the expedition. Shortly after, Yuji arrived at the belay nursing a terrible hangover from the night before, and proceeded to ‘flash” the pitch with little visible effort. To rub salt in the wound, this incredible achievement was without any warm-up! Yuji lowered back down to the floor saying what a nice pitch it was, and calmly took himself back to bed… bastard!
